Good Knight
Charlotte Knight day games are one of the more family-friendly events around. We went this past weekend on a picture-perfect Memorial day and enjoyed the laid-back, if not downright sleepy atmosphere. Just before arriving, our two-year old fell asleep in the car, which wasn’t a problem since we were able to bring in a stroller. Allowing our little angel to finish his nap was a key factor in our collective enjoyment level for the rest of the afternoon. Bonus points to ...

FUN EXCURSION: UNC-Chapel Hill
Saturday, May 12, 2012, was an important day for me. After five long years, I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health with my Master’s in Public Health. While working nearly full time as a PR consultant. And raising three kids. Attempting to have some kind of fun with them on a weekly basis for a “Fun Adventure.” Not to mention devoting at least two nights a year to “date night” with my husband. There wer...

LOL at The Littlest Angel
When considering a Children’s Theatre of Charlotte (CTC) production, I don’t usually ask myself whether or not it will be “good.” CTC is awesome. So awesome, that if I had a million dollars, I would write them a large check. The question I ask is whether or not I think my kids would enjoy the show.

A Whole Latta Fun
The leaves crunched and twigs snapped under our feet Saturday as we strolled around Historic Latta Plantation to take part in their “Plantation Christmas” celebration. The outing was special for one reason in particular: it was a rare mother-son adventure. I really can not remember the last time the two of us – just us – did something fun together.

Good Food = Good Fun
“Do you know that there’s a place called McWorld?” my son asked his little sister. “Wow, I want to go there on vacation!” was her reply. Ugh. This past week’s discussion about red 40 dye on MomsCharlotte sparked my own resolution to make better food choices for my family.

Real Men Make Fairy Houses
The “Fairy Garden” at the Charlotte Nature Museum is the cutest little thing I’ve seen in a long time. Brilliant in its simplicity, the path, structures and plants are thoughtfully laid out for kids (and fairies) to enjoy. We visited the museum on a recent Saturday to the delight of our 6 year old boy and 4 year old girl.

Happy Trails
We explored the 1.5 mile Nation’s Ford trail at the Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, SC, a few weeks ago with my son’s Cub Scout pack. A bit off the beaten path today, it was interesting to hike along a brief section that Native Americans and early settlers traversed hundreds of years ago on the Nation’s Ford Road.

Belly Up
Man, when was the last time I shaved my legs? Good Lord, the kids need their toenails clipped! I wonder if that kid’s cough is contagious… Who is that family with the perfect kids listening to everything? I swear to God, my son has ADHD, I don’t care WHAT his teachers say… These were the thoughts entering my head to the count of four and exiting-two-three-four at a...
