  • Operation Nutcracker Initiation

    My wife and I decided that this was the year we are going to attempt to take our daughter (4 years) to see The Nutcracker performance at Belk Theater.   Now, I have to admit that I don’t really have a passion for ballet.   From what I remember of The Nutcracker it has (a lot of) times where it gets kind of long and tedious.

  • Awesome Update

    Maybe a month ago I started an ongoing project listing things that I consider awesome.    I got kind of sidetracked because I’m not really around that many awesome things.   But I’ve made note, gentle reader, of the times that I have crossed paths with awesomeness and here are some more.   • Carrie Has Had Kind of a Crazy Day

    As I write this Thanksgiving is over and many folks are wearing themselves out fighting crowds at some crazy Black Friday/Saturday shopping event.   Well, tonight our daughter asked us if we wanted to hear about her doll’s condition because she "has had kind of a crazy day".  I hope your shopping days haven't been as crazy as what I just heard.

  • Thanksgiving

    Here we are.   Another Thanksgiving has arrived.   I know-   it seems like it wasn’t that long ago that you took the Christmas tree down (please tell me you haven’t already put one up this year) and here we are again. Many better writers will opine over the next couple of days that Americans today don’t even know what giving thanks is all about.

  • Still Numb

    Just got back from my dentist’s office ( Kalons & Glidewell uptown- excellent dentists if you’re looking for one) where I had an old filling replaced.   The bottom left quadrant of my face and entire left side of my tongue are totally numb. Even though it’s lunchtime, eating is ill advised lest I have to give up my vegetarian diet from chewing on my own tongue.

  • What's In a Name?

    I don’t know any other way to phrase this, so I’m just going to say it.   My kid is weird when it comes to naming things. She comes by it honestly.   My wife always wanted a dog named Pants.   So that’s what we’ve got.   A dog named Pants.
