Married same-sex couples have been poised to begin their lives together with the same rights and obligations afforded to heterosexual couples. Yet, despite the mandate of the judicial decision striking down the state’s same-sex marriage ban, the application of that ruling in North Carolina may not be so clear. Attorney Edward S. Garrett, of Sodoma Law in Charlotte, weighs in.
