A front-page story in Thursday’s Observer listed an incorrect property tax rate being considered by the town of Matthews. The proposed county/town property tax rate for the coming fiscal year is $1.08 for every $100 of assessed property.

A story in Tuesday’s Local & State section, about Rosen Publishing donating 10,000 books to the Mayor’s Mentoring Alliance, incorrectly reported what company President Roger Rosen said about children owning books in low-income areas. Rosen said that only one out of 300 low-income children owns any books.

A story in Tuesday’s Local & State section about St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church closing was unclear about what would happen to a Loaves & Fishes food pantry at the church. The pantry is joining a new pantry at Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, 101 Sugar Creek Road W., which will open by the end of June.

A photo caption in Tuesday’s Local section gave the wrong name for Duke Energy’s Cliffside power plant.

A story on “Repo Man” in Sunday’s Carolina Living section attributed a quote to the wrong actor. Tracey Walter said, “The more you drive, the less intelligent you get.”

A story about Food Lion Speed Street in Thursday’s Local & State section gave the incorrect rank for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Maj. Jeff Estes.

A review of JJ’s Red Hots in Wednesday’s Carolina Living section gave the wrong name and price for the hot dog with chili, onions and cheese. It’s a Chili Cheese Coney, $3.99.
