Roy Williams repeated his stance on a broader scale Wednesday at the ACC’s annual basketball media days, saying he knew nothing about the paper class scheme at UNC.

Duke hasn’t won an ACC or NCAA banner since 2010, and senior captain Quinn Cook wants to change that.

Danny Manning takes the position that positions are overrated. “We want guys to be basketball players,” Manning said. “Positions don’t mean much to me in terms of putting guys out there on the court.”

N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried and the Pack are prepared for life without T.J. Warren, who at first hedged on his decision to turn pro.

ACC commissioner John Swofford was UNC’s athletic director in 1980-1997. He said he sensed no issues with the independent studies courses.

UNC has paid Edelman, a major public relations firm, $782,000 for help handling the academic fraud fallout and other communications efforts. A UNC spokesman says the money comes from money that isn’t taxpayer-supported funds.
