'Holiday' auditions this weekend

By Steve Lyttle
Staff Writer

Singers, actors and people with special entertainment talents are being asked to audition this weekend for the "Holidays in the City" troupe that will perform around Charlotte from Nov. 27 through Dec. 31.

Charlotte Center City Partners says it is looking for six to eight cast members for the coming holiday season.

Three areas of talent are being sought:

Actors who can move: Applicants should prepare two songs (a ballad and an up-tempo piece) with accompaniment, which can be a CD. Applicants should include a brief dance combination.

Actors and character actors: Applicants should have a one-minute comic monologue, and dialects of Irish, Scotch or English are of special interest but not required.

Special talents: Stilt walkers, mimes, jugglers, comedy magicians, or other family-oriented styles.

Auditions will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the Dance Studio C in Spirit Square, 345 North College Street; and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m. Saturday in the Education Studio at Spirit Square. Both studios are on the second floor.

Callbacks will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Prospective entertainers must register in advance for an audition, by calling 704-560-3046 or emaiing cmenconi@charlottecentercity.org.
