Rooftop deck is a beachy retreat

The view goes on forever from this rooftop deck (above). Soft, off-white stone flooring, adobe-style walls and natural wood window casing create a Mediterranean ambience accentuated by palms and greenery. A movable umbrella enhances the feeling that every day is like a day at the beach.

Square tiles in an unexpected peachy-orange add a cheerful sassiness to this deck/pool combination (above, right). Looking back toward the house, these “dotted lines” draw the eye forward to where folding veranda doors frame the entry to the inside. A shelter lounging area is raised by a single step, creating a sense of separation.

Throw another log on the fire (right) and curl up on the sofa in this outdoor lounge. Spectacular, large-scale patio stones echo the coloration in the ledgestone fireplace surround. Furnishings are comfy, casual, and placed for easy conversation. Blurring the line between deck and forest, potted plants add a softness to the space's angular edges.
