at Lake Norman

Design specialist Jenny Pippin of Pippin Home Designs is opening her own “green” home to the public for a Green Home Tour today and Sunday and July 18-20. Tickets cost $11 and proceeds will benefit Our Towns Habitat for Humanity. The once-1,200- square-foot cottage in Sherrills Ford on Lake Norman has been transformed into a 4,459-square-foot green showplace. Information: www.project livegreen.com. Versant: European-style

charm north of Asheville

The first single-family home is under construction at Versant, the new luxury European-style community north of Asheville.

The 3,650-square-foot home offers views of the Blue Ridge skyline. The home, designed by Shamburger Design Studio of Hendersonville, will be completed by late fall. Information: 866-482-1924.
