Rodney Monroe, the new chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, recently announced plans to reassign about 100 officers and put more of them on the street. His plan includes disbanding specialized units, boosting gang and narcotics enforcement and coordinating community programs to better combat youth violence.
We headed out to central city neighborhoods to see how people feel about safety in their areas.
