We're reunited and, oh yeah, it feels so good

I rekindled an old romance recently.

I can't believe that it took so long. I backed down when I should have stood my ground.

I have to confess that I'm talking about the public library. (Somewhere my mother just groaned.)

I parted ways with the library back in the '90s. They claimed I lost a Chet Baker CD. I know I returned it. After a few conversations with a few people, I thought it was squared away since they had found the CD and that the $16 fine would be forgiven.

Six months later, I went to check out a book. I was told that I couldn't until I paid the fine. I protested, but to no avail. That's when I dug in my heels and swore never to go back.

Yeah, I know that was dumb, especially since I love to read and have secretly always wanted to work in a library.

A few weeks ago, I swallowed my pride, paid the fine, got a new card, checked out 5 items and put about 20 on hold.
