More Information

A car slammed into a house in west Charlotte this morning, causing considerable damage to the structure and forcing firefighters to rescue some of the residents.

Nobody was injured, but a family has been left homeless as a result of the crash.

The incident happened about 8:30 a.m. in the 5100 block of Brooktree Drive, off Toddville Road north of Freedom Drive.

Charlotte firefighters say several units were sent to the scene, after a car slammed into a two-story duplex. Charlotte fire officials say crews had to rescue two residents from the upper level, because the stairwell was damaged. There were no injuries, but the American Red Cross has been called to provide shelter for a family of six – an adult and five children.

Authorities are not sure what caused the driver of the car to lose control, but the collision caused an estimated $30,000 damage to the house.
