High School Football Players of the Week

Each Sunday, the Observer names an overall player of the week and top performers from other classifications.

OVERALL: South Mecklenburg running back Tim Palmer, who ran for 292 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in a 49-18 victory against Waddell, is the Observer player of the week. Palmer, a senior, helped the Sabres improved to 2-0.

3A: Hickory Ridge sophomore Brian Baltimore rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-8 victory against Concord Robinson.

2A: Mount Pleasant's Evan Seymour passed for four touchdowns and 287 yards in a 42-27 victory against Concord. He completed 14 of 17, and directed four scoring drives of 70 or more yards.

1A/Private: Charlotte Christian's Luke Bard passed for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth in a 28-0 victory against Augusta (Ga.) Christian. He completed 15-of-22 pass for 132 yards.
