Pedestrian struck uptown

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle during the lunchtime hour today in Charlotte's uptown area.

The incident happened about 11:50 a.m. on South Church Street near Stonewall Street. That is in an area of heavy construction, at the site of the Wachovia complex.

Church Street was closed for about 45 minutes, but it is expected to be open again by 12:30 p.m. The victim was taken by Medic to a hospital. The extent of injuries is not known.
