Belk launches new Web site

E-commerce, say hello to Belk: The Charlotte-based department store chain has launched an extensive new Web site that allows shoppers to browse and buy a wide range of apparel, housewares, beauty products and accessories.

Belk previously had a limited Web presence, with a site that included gift card and gift registry features, and sold a limited range of home goods.

However, retailers have increasingly focused on their Web sites as shoppers head online, and most of Belk's competitors – Dillard's, Nordstrom and Macy's among them – have sold an extensive selection of products through Internet for years.
