Rev. Sharpton in area on Sunday

Reverend Al Sharpton will be visiting the Charlotte area on Sunday.

The civil rights leader and political activist is scheduled to speak at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe at the 8 a.m. service.

He will be in North Carolina to encourage voter registration and raise awareness of election fraud as part of a bus tour through several swing states. It's part of the National Action Network's “Not This Time” campaign.

Sharpton will also speak at Greenville Memorial AME Zion Church in Charlotte at 11 a.m.

He and “Not This Time” volunteers will hold rallies at the churches where they will register voters, check to see if names are already on voting rolls and tell voters which precincts to go to on election day.

From there, Sharpton will travel by bus to Greensboro to speak at the second annual MOVE Conference at the New Jerusalem Cathedral.
