Twelve Charlotte-Mecklenburg high school football teams today will play makeup games that were rained out Sept. 29. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. The matchups:

Myers Park (3-2, 1-0) at Independence (4-0, 1-0)

It's Myers Park's turn to try to hold Independence to 40 points or less in this Southwestern 4A game, which no other team has done this season. Independence, N.C.'s top-ranked 4A team, scored in every quarter Friday night with Harold Blythe (122 rushing yards, four touchdowns) and Anthony Carrothers (19-of-28 passing, 310 yards, two touchdowns) leading. Myers Park's Stuart Ahlum threw three touchdown passes, including two to Robert Waterhouse, in a victory against Weddington on Friday.

West Charlotte (3-3, 1-0) at Hopewell (3-2, 0-0)

Both of these ME-CA 7 4A teams hope to win to keep pace with unbeaten Mallard Creek. West Charlotte's passing attack helped score 42 on Friday, and Stanley Wright had touchdowns on a 95-yard kickoff return and 75-yard reception. Hopewell is on a two-game winning streak.

Ardrey Kell (3-1, 0-1) at Butler (5-0, 1-0)

Butler rallied from a 14-7 deficit to beat Providence 35-21 on Friday, and had interception returns for touchdowns by Jacob Davis and Marcel Sargent. Ardrey Kell played well in the first half of a 27-21 loss to East Meck on Friday, but couldn't hold the lead. Drew Alexander was 15-of-20 passing for 178 yards.

South Mecklenburg (3-1, 0-1) at East Mecklenburg (5-0, 1-0)

East Mecklenburg enters this Southwestern 4A game after a key conference victory at Ardrey Kell. Olin Little passed for 172 yards and two touchdowns. South Meck must rebound after being routed 42-14 by Independence. Fullback Spencer Shuey ran for 72 yards.

West Mecklenburg (2-3, 1-0) at Garinger (0-5, 0-0)

This is a Queen City 3A/4A game. West Mecklenburg, after scoring 39 points in its first four games, erupted for 47 in a victory against Berry on Friday. Carl Funny caught four passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns from James Barber, who also ran for a score. The Hawks scored in every quarter.

Waddell (0-5, 0-1) at Harding (0-5, 0-1)

Waddell has 12 points in the past three games, heading into this Queen City 3A/4A matchup. Harding rallied from a 30-point deficit in a 56-49 loss to Olympic on Friday. The Rams' offense is effective; the defense has allowed 22 or more points in every game.
