NBA notes | Name can't carry Ewing in New York

NEW YORK Patrick Ewing Jr. was waived Monday by the New York Knicks, who got down to the 15-player limit by cutting the son of their career scoring leader.

Ewing made a strong late bid to make the team, scoring seven points on 3-of-3 shooting Friday in the fourth quarter of New York's preseason finale. However, the Knicks opted to stick with guard Anthony Roberson, who impressed them with his outside shooting.
