CORNELIUS Former execs launch savings Web site

Former executives Jennifer Cochrane and Lori Frascati launched a Web site Oct. 31 called Lake Norman Savings so businesses can post customer savings offers for free.

Cochrane lives in Davidson. She is a former executive with the Federal Reserve. Frascati lives in Mooresville and is a former apparel-industry executive.

They left their careers to raise families and thought up the Web site idea because they'd longed for a central site where they could find specials among local businesses.

“We're doing it as a community service,” Cochrane said of www.lknsavings.com.

Eventually the site will seek corporate sponsors, she said.

Cornelius firm sponsors food drive

Shared Resources: Technology Solutions of Cornelius is conducting a Thanksgiving food drive Monday through Nov. 24 to help stock the food closet at Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson.

The firm will have containers outside the Cookhouse Restaurant, which is in Shops on the Green off Torrence Chapel Road. Needed are canned vegetables, cereal, canned meats, canned juices, canned fruit, pasta, pasta sauce, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pudding, peanut butter, jelly or jam, bar soap, feminine-hygiene products, laundry detergents, toothpaste, toilet paper, pet foods and diapers.

CommunityONE celebrates Cornelius opening

CommunityONE Bank hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 6 for its new office at Magnolia Estates Drive and West Catawba Avenue.

It's the bank's first Mecklenburg County location and its 45th in North Carolina.

Special features include relaxed banking spaces, gourmet coffee, free Internet access, a children's play area and a flat-panel TV. Carolyn Southern is the office manager.

At the ceremony, the bank donated $500 to the Ada Jenkins Center.

Chamber helping people in need

The Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce is collecting nonperishable food and warm blankets for Mooresville Christian Mission through December.

The mission serves 1,700 families with food, clothing, rent and prescription-drug assistance.

Donations can be dropped off at the chamber office, 149 E. Iredell Ave., or Mooresville Christian Mission off N.C. 801 (Park Avenue).
