Veterans to be honored: The town of Cornelius recently approved the construction of a veterans monument at Cornelius Town Hall. It will include names of all veterans, living or deceased, that served in the U.S. armed forces and lived in Cornelius at some point. The Cornelius American Legion Post 86 is looking for candidates. The Davidson Day School senior's picture was selected among 500-plus submissions received daily from around the globe. Only 12 pictures make the cut each day.Lake NormanCovekeepers update: The Lake Norman Covekeepers' monthly meetings will resume on Jan. 28. Rick Gaskins, environmental attorney and executive director of Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation, will present "Who Ya Gonna Call?" He will discuss various issues that can arise around the lake and how to identify which agencies or people can help resolve them.
