Observations: Would new owner, Brown mesh?

By Rick Bonnell

Larry Brown reiterated Wednesday that his biggest single reason for accepting the Bobcats' coaching job was because Michael Jordan asked him to do it. Translation: If Jordan is no longer part of the organization, as a result of an ownership change, Brown might have misgivings about working here. At minimum, I should think any new owner should have an immediate conversation with Brown, to reassure him how much he'd be valued if he stays on.

Gerald Wallace said pre-game that he hurt his left hamstring in the first quarter of Monday's game in Portland. This was the second game Wallace has missed (the first in New York due to severe headaches). Stephen Graham started for Wallace. "It felt like a cramp at first,'' Wallace described. "By the end (of the game) I could hardly walk.'' Wallace figured by skipping the Lakers game, he bought himself four off-days to maximize his chance of playing Saturday versus the New Orleans Hornets at home. Boris Diaw had a rough night 0-of-4 from the field, no points, four fouls and he was the one often guarding Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom in their combined 33 points and 14-of-23 shooting.
