Davidson Day School

Father/Daughter dance: This year's Father/Daughter dance will take place Feb. 19 in the Commons from 6:30-8 p.m. Snacks, beverages and music will be provided. Invitations will be placed in backpacks soon. Girls of all grades are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please contact Ginny Remmey at vremmey@hotmail.com.

Robotics program: Davidson Day will be teaming up with USFIRST and LEGO to start a new robotics program for students in grades K-12. Students will be involved with research, building and programming robots for competition locally, with a chance to advance to national and world competitions. Parent volunteers are needed. FAFSA Day: Feb. 13 the College Foundation of North Carolina will be hosting FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid, day at several local colleges, including Johnson and Wales University, the Art Institute of Charlotte and UNC Charlotte. FAFSA day is an opportunity to learn more about the need-based financial aid process, and they offer assistance in helping seniors and parents file the FAFSA. As a reminder, the 2010-2011 FAFSA is available now online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Registration for FAFSA day is available at www.cfnc.org.

College life: Today at 2 p.m., Davidson Day School and Davidson College will present "College Life 101." Students from Davidson College will speak to Upper School juniors and seniors on how to make the proper adjustment to college life. The event will be held in the DDS auditorium.

Lincoln Charter

Sport tryouts: Spring sports tryouts are scheduled for the week of Feb. 15. A detailed schedule will be posted and distributed soon. Spring sports offered by LCS are boys' and girls' middle school tennis, men's high school tennis, boys' and girls' middle school golf, men's and women's high school golf, boys' middle school baseball, men's high school baseball, girls' middle school softball, women's high school softball and women's high school soccer.

Community Players

Auditions: Davidson Community Player's Connie Company announces auditions for children and youth for "Charlotte's Web" and the 2010 Rupert T. Barber Summer Workshop teen and junior companies. Young actors of all levels of experience are encouraged to audition. Auditions will be held on Feb. 13 from either 11:30am-1pm or 1:30pm-3:00pm at Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour St., Davidson. 704-892-7953.

Summer fun: Camp Cannon offers children and their parents the solution for summer fun. Youngsters ages 3-18 can experience a host of engaging humanities, arts, athletics, adventure and day camps in a safe, secure environment between June 14 and July 30.
