North Carolina reserve forward Tyler Zeller, who hasn't played since Jan. 10 because of a broken bone in his foot, went through pregame warm-ups. He remained in uniform as a just-in-case measure, to be used only if too many forwards got into foul trouble against Georgia Tech.
The fact that he was in uniform at all, though, could be a good sign for his chances of playing Saturday at Boston College.
The game featured two of the worst free-throw shooting teams in ACC play, and it showed. In the first half, North Carolina, ranked 10th in the league, made six of its 12 foul shots. Georgia Tech, ranked dead last, was 9-for-14.
North Carolina shot so badly that it surprised even the PA announcer when a Tar Heel made a bucket. When junior Will Graves made a 3-pointer with about 8 minutes left, he called out " Zachery Peacock!" - a Yellow Jackets player - before correcting himself.
