Brown reacts to Clippers speculation

By Rick Bonnell

Asked pre-game Tuesday whether he's committed long-term to coaching the Charlotte Bobcats, Larry Brown leaned on a familiar refrain:

"It's up to Michael," Brown said, referring to managing partner Michael Jordan.

Brown has expressed elation over Jordan's decision to buy controlling interest in the Bobcats. Jordan hired Brown, and Brown has repeatedly said Jordan's presence was the single reason he took the job.

Brown joked away a question about an SI.com report that he contacted the Los Angeles Clippers to gauge their interest in him coaching there again.

He appears happy coaching the Bobcats, but his wife and two teenage children still live in Philadelphia. Brown met his current wife in South California, from when he previously coached the Clippers, and the Browns reportedly still own a home there.

With Gana Diop active after several weeks out with a sprained right knee, the Bobcats were as healthy Tuesday as they've been in a long time. The only injured players were Nazr Mohammed (continuing back spasms) and Alexis Ajinca (surgery on a torn right thumb ligament).

No word on when Mohammed might be healthy enough to suit up again.
