The fog is gone, but the rain is coming.
A large area of light to moderate rain is moving toward the Charlotte region Thursday morning, and periods of rain can be expected for the rest of the day, forecasters say.
Rainfall is not expected to be heavy, and no severe weather is forecast. Instead, an approaching low pressure system is expected to bring rain and keep temperatures in the lower 60s this afternoon.
Dense fog covered much of the area earlier this morning, limiting visibilities to less than a half-mile at times. The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory, but no major problems were reported.
A large area of low pressure that is moving very slowly across the Ohio Valley is expected to continue a chance of showers Friday and Saturday, and there could be a few thunderstorms later Friday, forecasters say. Temperatures will be warmer both days, with highs in the upper 60s.
Showers will diminish in frequency Saturday, and only a chance of showers is forecast for Sunday.
