Western Carolina continue season in CollegeInsider.com Tournament

Catamounts will play at Marshall on Tuesday; first postseason bid since 1996

Western Carolina Athletic Director Chip Smith announced Sunday evening the the Catamounts have accepted a bid to play in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

The Catamounts (22-11) will travel to Huntington, W.Va., to face No. 1 seed Marshall (23-9), from Conference USA, at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

This is the first post-season tournament for Western Carolina men's basketball since 1996. The Catamounts' 22 wins is the most since becoming Division I.

The CIT is in its second year of existence. Old Dominion won the inaugural tournament, defeating Bradley 68-62 last season. A total of 16 teams are scheduled to compete in the tournament with the first three rounds being conducted on campus sites. The championship of the tournament is scheduled to be played at the highest remaining seed.

The CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament is a single-elimination tournament, consisting of four rounds, with the first three rounds being played at on-campus sites, which will be determined by seeding. The championship game will be played at an on-campus site to be determined by seeding.

The event will feature (8) first-round games, four (4) quarterfinal games, a semi-final round and then the Championship game. All other games will be available online on FoxCollegeSports.com.
