Clay Aiken lands role on 'Drop Dead Diva'

By Brooke Cain
The (Raleigh) News & Observer

These days everything's all Scotty McCreery, but we haven't forgotten the original local 'American Idol' golden boy, one Mr. Clayton Aiken.

So here's a little scoop for the Claymates out there: Clay will be a guest star in the third season premiere episode of 'Drop Dead Diva,' a great little drama that airs on Lifetime.

The 'Drop Dead Diva' episode rips a story from the headlines by having the show's heroine, Jane (Brooke Elliott), defend a girl who was banned from her high school prom because she wanted to take her girlfriend. Clay will be in a different storyline, though, playing a witness in a case about a mail order bride scam.

The episode also features actors Lance Bass and Amanda Bearse.

Other announced guest stars for the upcoming Season 3 include: LeAnn Rimes, Wendy Williams, Louis Van Amstel, Nick Zano, Mario Lopez, Tony Goldwyn, Jennifer Tilly, Howard Hesseman and Paula Abdul, who has appeared on the show before.

The season premiere of 'Drop Dead Diva' is scheduled for June. We'll keep you posted on that and on Clay's appearance.
