You may recognize WSOC-TV news anchor Natalie Pasquarella from her reporting on the evening news, but you may not know that this Ohio-native has quickly developed a love for the south—and the lake!

What do you like to do in your free time?

When you have so much time at work, you need that relaxation time with friends and family, so that’s a priority. I love the theater. I grew up in a small town with no water, so since I’ve moved to Lake Norman I love going out on the boat with friends. I’m new on the boating scene, but I love it.

How do you like the Lake Norman area? Any favorite spots so far?

I’m a person that’s go-go-go, and that’s the nature of my work, always having to make a deadline. The drive from the lake forces you to find that calm, sit back, and take in your surroundings. At the lake it’s so beautiful so if forces me to relax and enjoy. As far as spots, our favorite Italian place is Sebastiano’s. Being Italian, we’re picky, and their penne alla vodka is our favorite.

You and your co-anchor Blair Miller are neighbors on the lake; small world, huh?

Yeah! It’s funny because he’s a great coworker and friend. His family boated up to meet my family the first time I got to enjoy the lake. When we’re not at work, we’re just eating and unwinding (usually over water activities), so that’s been great.

Is there a role model that has inspired you throughout your career?

Of course I look up to Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters, big names like that. But my mom is my role model because as long as I’ve known her, she’s worked two jobs; she did it all. She was a business woman, a family woman, and managed to have fun in her off time. She was the ultimate role model for my siblings and me.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Day to day, the best part is getting able to tell stories that you hope will impact people’s lives. Meeting all the people in the community has been wonderful. More specifically, interviewing President Obama was the most memorable moment of my career. It was truly an honor. We’re hoping to talk to him again during the Democratic National Convention.
