Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and officers from three other law enforcement agencies made 14 arrests overnight during a DWI checkpoint in northeast Charlotte.
The checkpoint, one of a series planned over the next two weekends surrounding the Memorial Day weekend and race weeks in Charlotte, took place from 11 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of East W.T. Harris Boulevard. That is near Old Concord Road.
CMPD Sgt. David Sloan said officers from the Mint Hill and UNC Charlotte police departments, along with the Mecklenburg ABC Law Enforcement, helped with the checkpoint.
The total number of arrests and citations, according to Sloan:
DWI: 9.
Driving with a revoked license: 16.
Driving with no license: 26.
Child car seat violations: 5.
Drug charges: 3.
Carrying concealed weapon: 1.
Others (tags, insurance, etc.): 45.
Outstanding warrants: 2.
Sloan said there were 14 arrests -- nine on DWI, one for driving with a revoked license (who also was arrested on DWI charges), two for outstanding warrants, one for carrying a concealed weapon and drug possession, and another for drug possession.
