67 citations issued at DWI checkpoint

Police charged 16 people with driving while impaired during a traffic checkpoint on Park Road near Archdale Road.

The checkpoint, designed to crack down on drunk drivers, lasted from 11 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. Sunday.

In all, police charged 67 people with crimes or infractions during the crackdown, including 14 people for not having an operators license, and 18 citations related to vehicle registration matters.

In all, police say, 12 were arrested during the checkpoint.
