Three held in shooting death at hotel

Three people have been charged in connection with the killing of Isaac Rodriguez, a 21-year-old gunned down at a northern Charlotte hotel late Saturday afternoon.

Shanelle Boetius, 23, Jeremy Jackman, 22, and Montreall Banner, 17, were charged with murder, attempted armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Banner was also charged with possession of a firearm by a minor.

All three were in Mecklenburg jail late Sunday with no bond on the murder charge.

The shooting happened at the Brookwood Inn on Sugar Creek Road near Interstate 85 about 4:45 p.m. Saturday. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police spent the evening canvassing the nieghborhood after learning that three assailants fled on foot. The gang unit also responded.
