More Information

A family was displaced from a south Charlotte home after a three-alarm fire ripped through the house Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters were called around 2:45 p.m. to the blaze on Willowood Drive in a neighborhood near Park Road.

When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-story house. It took more than 70 firefighters about 45 minutes to control the fire, officials said.

None of the family members were injured, but one firefighter was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. He was expected to be treated and released, said Charlotte Fire Capt. Rob Brisley.

Brisley said fire investigators had not yet determined a cause of the blaze, but initial reports suggest it began in the garage.
