Childers named weekend anchor on Fox News

By Mark Washburn
TV/Radio Writer

Heather Childers, a former anchor on Charlotte's News 14 Carolina, has been named anchor of Fox News Channel's weekend afternoon news block, "America's News Headquarters," the network said Monday.

Childers joined Fox News last November as a New York-based reporter and has been filling in recently as temporary anchor on the weekend show.

Childers, who grew up in Charlotte and is a graduate of Myers Park High School and UNCC, anchored newscasts at WLOS (Channel 13), the ABC affiliate in Asheville, before joining News 14 for its launch in 2002. Early in her career, she worked at WCNC (Channel 36) as a producer.

"America's News Headquarters" airs Saturdays and Sundays, 4 to 6 p.m.
