Children from all over Charlotte are helping tell the story of the citys history through a community art project in South End.
Boy Scouts, campers and other groups are adding flowers, mushrooms and other details to a mural going up outside Healthy Home Market on South Boulevard. The mural is 20 feet tall by 114 feet wide and shows the citys ties to agriculture and its stature as a banking center.
Healthy Home commissioned the mural to add to the art already in place to distinguish South End from other parts of the city. C. Frank Haas, a third-generation sign and mural painter, is the lead artist for the latest project, and is slated to finish by the end of August.
