Friendship to fairytale

Jennifer was a cheerleader and Victor was point guard for the basketball team. It was a match made in heaven; however, it was years in the making.

They met for the first time when they were sophomores at Spartanburg Methodist College. Throughout college they were “just friends,” says Jennifer. They remained friends as they both transferred to the University of South Carolina and it wasn’t until later that they found out some friendships can blossom into much more.

After graduating, they reconnected during the holidays and Victor invited Jennifer to attend a Christmas party with him. After that holiday season they dated for three years.

Victor cleverly planned to pop the question at the annual family Christmas Eve party at his parents' restaurant. “Everyone knew about it except for me,” laughs Jennifer. “I thought I was getting a puppy for Christmas!” At the Christmas party – in front of all their friends and family – Victor got down on one knee and asked for Jennifer’s hand in marriage.

The magical evening marked the beginning of wedding planning. “I wanted the wedding to be very traditional and elegant,” says Jennifer. They chose to get married in Charleston, S.C. – Jennifer’s original home.

On a beautiful day in late March, Jennifer and her father rode up to the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage. “You could hear everyone saying, ‘Wow,’” recalls Jennifer. Jennifer and Victor wed on the lawn at Founders Hall, at the Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site. Pink and white rose petals were sprinkled over the grass. As the palmetto trees swayed in the breeze, Jennifer and Victor committed to each other for life as husband and wife, and best friends.

The guests enjoyed a dance-filled evening at the reception. The décor had a more modern look and it was accented by personal touches. One particular touch was the wedding cake, which was inspired by Jennifer’s flowing bridal gown – the decorator recreated the flowers from her dress onto the cake! And none of the sweetness was left behind because the guest all got personalized boxes to fill with desserts as favors. The night ended as friends and family illuminated the night with flickering votive candles and Jennifer and Victor were whisked off in a white Rolls Royce.

The happy couple honeymooned in sunny Jamaica and has more recently settled into their new home in Boiling Springs. Jennifer says, “Married life is going great. We are still honeymooning for the next couple years and enjoying each other.”
