More than a dozen people were arrested for driving while impaired during an overnight checkpoint on Providence Road in south Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, along with other local law enforcement, held the checkpoint in the 3300 block of Providence Road from 11 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday. The checking station was part of the Labor Day "Booze it and Lose it" campaign, police said.
Police said 13 people were charged with DWI. Three people were charged with driving with a revoked license, and 21 people face charges of driving without an operator's license. In all, police issued 58 charges.
The night before, police held a checkpoint on Brookshire Boulevard near Lawton Road. Police there arrested nine people for driving while impaired, one for resisting an officer and one for carrying a concealed weapon.
