Thieves break into Fort Mill fireworks shop
Thieves smashed the front door and threw the cash registers on the ground at Red Rocket Fireworks in Fort Mill during a break-in early Monday, deputies say.
Officers responded to alarm calls at the U.S. 21 business around 2:30 a.m. to find the front glass door had been smashed and registers thrown down, causing around $5,500 in damage, according to a York County Sheriff's Office report.
Security cameras captured images of three men in dark clothing pulling up to the business in a white Dodge Caravan or Plymouth Voyager. One of the suspects threw a cinder block through the window.

Teacher from Charlotte killed in wreck on I-85 Tuesday morning
An elementary school teacher was killed in a one-car crash as she drove to work Tuesday morning on Interstate 85 in Gaston County. The wreck happened just after 7 a.m. on southbound I-85 near mile marker 23 in the Belmont area.
According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, Christina Whelan, 27, apparently lost control of her Toyota Scion and slammed into a cement median wall. The car then veered off the right side of the road and crashed into a grove of trees.
Whelan, of Charlotte, was wearing her seatbelt, according to the Highway Patrol. Troopers said Whelan was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center but later died.
The website of Carr Elementary School in Dallas lists Whelan as a second-grade teacher. Steve Lyttle and Meghan Cooke

Gastonia man arrested in Lake Wylie bank theft
A Gaston County man has been arrested and charged in connection with a BB&T robbery Monday in Lake Wylie.
Michael Shane Kinley, 30, of 4708 Grier St., Gastonia, was arrested about 5 p.m. Monday in Bessemer City.
Just before 11 a.m. Monday, the York County Sheriff's Office responded to an armed robbery at the BB&T Bank on 585 Nautical Drive in Lake Wylie. A man entered the bank and wrote on an envelope that he had a gun and to give him money, the report states. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money. Due to information provided by a witness, the York County Sheriff's Office, the FBI, the Gaston County Sheriff's Office and the Gastonia City Police were able to apprehend the suspect. More charges filed against middle school coach
More charges have been filed against a Rowan County middle school football coach accused of assaulting a student, coach and a parent. Jared John Gallagher, 40, of Kannapolis has now been charged with kidnapping, strangulation, interfering with emergency communication and carrying a concealed weapon.
Gallagher was an assistant coach at Corriher-Lipe Middle School in Landis. He has been suspended. He was originally charged with child abuse, possession of a weapon at school, assault and resisting arrest.
Sheriff's deputies responding to the head coach's call to the school last week used a Taser three times to subdue Gallagher. He had worked at the school since 2009. Associated Press
