Levine Children’s Hospital receives 'Gifts from Angels'

CharlotteObserver.com

Angel Thompson of Kannapolis, diagnosed with a juvenile pilocystic astrocytoma – a rare childhood brain tumor, usually benign, and slow-growing – has begun a charity game drive she calls “Gifts from Angels.” (She calls it that because the games aren’t from her, she says; the real angels are the donors.)

So far, she has collected 418 games and taken them to Levine Children’s Hospital, and says she and her family will continue to collect them. She hopes the drive will grow to include other area hospitals.

Angel was diagnosed at 5, and a recent checkup revealed she will need more surgery and chemotherapy. She had spent a month in the hospital after her first surgery, and that’s when she noticed a lack of games.

“It’s not about her,” said her father, Alan. “She wants to help other kids. This is her thing.”

To donate, contact Myra Thompson at 704-791-1762 or amt6973@gmail.com.
