Brigs now open

One of the Triangle area's best brunch spots has opened in Ballantyne's Toringdon Market. A recipient of Cary's 2011 Best of Cary award, Brigs is known for breakfast. Each week a new omelet is featured, and a new Benedict is offered every month. Frequently, new pancake, salad or sandwich options are highlighted. Look for weekday breakfast specials here from 7-11a.m. (holidays excluded) for $5.99. Choices include griddle combos, Belgian waffles and more. Not in the mood for breakfast? A full line up of burgers, such as the avocado cheeseburger, salads and sandwiches are on the menu. A "Kidstuff" menu is available and includes breakfast and lunch items; kids receive a free drink when they dine in. Check out the website for monthly specials.

Terrace Café

Ballantyne Village is now home to Terrace Cafe's second Charlotte location. Winner of Charlotte Magazine's "Best All-Day Eats" title for 2011, Terrace offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Best sellers from their breakfast menu include red velvet waffles, s'mores French toast and plenty of omelets. For lunch, diners can choose from a variety of salads and sandwiches such as their mighty corn beef. There is much to choose from for dinner here: terrace fried chicken, oven roasted salmon and more. Park Place Restaurant

From 6-11a.m., Monday through Friday, Park Place is serving a breakfast deal for $3.95: two eggs, bacon or sausage, grits or home fries and toast or a biscuit. Located across the street from Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville, Park Place serves breakfast all day and offers lunch specials beginning at $5.95. Sauceman's

Now open on Sundays for football season, Sauceman's is selling to-go tailgate packages. For $32.99 you can pick up two pounds of chopped or course-chopped pork, six buns, one quart of red or white slaw, one quart of beans, barbecue sauce, a side of your choice and a gallon of sweet tea. Cooking Uptown

Holly Herrick, cookbook author and Cordon Bleu graduate from Charleston, will be signing copies of her latest book at an evening cocktail reception on Oct. 13.
