CMS

External defibrillators at every school: The Lucky Hearts Campaign has donated 32 automated external defibrillators to CMS in honor of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. CMS will use the donation to place a defibrillator at each elementary school that does not currently have one. Each unit costs approximately $1,500. Along with the donation, medic staff will train CMS personnel on how to use the devise.

Charlotte Country Day

Blood drive: The annual CCDS Blood Drive will be held at the Hance Fine Arts Center 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 16. Appointments are every 15 minutes. Anyone age 16 and older is welcome. Contact Rick Hackett at 704-943-4592 or rick.hackett@charlottecountryday.org for an appointment.

Covenant Day

Booster Club dinner: The Booster Club Fall Kickoff Dinner will be held tonight, 5:30-8 p.m., in the CDS High School Gym. It will feature guest speaker Sonya Curry, wife of former NBA player Dell Curry and mother of three. Register online, www.covenantday.org.

South Meck

PTSA meeting: There will be a parent teacher association meeting 5:45 p.m. Sept. 19 at Doby's Café.

Fundraiser

Loaves and Fishes: Valeriano Orthodontics is having a "Back to School" contest to benefit Loaves and Fishes and our local schools. Students and parents are asked to donate nonperishable food items to the office of Dr. Valeriano, 7812 Fairview Road. At the end of the contest the school with the most points will be awarded a Smart Board or check for $2,500. All food donations will be forwarded to Loaves and Fishes through Nov. 30.

Ghost walk: Scott Clark Toyota will hold its second 3-D Ghost Walk in October to raise funds for local elementary school's PTAs. For $5 children will gain entry to the ghost walk, receive a bag of candy, hot dog and a drink. In-kind sponsorships are now being accepted, contact Lara White, 704-621-2469 or laramcwhite@gmail.com.
