Charlotte area residents may find themselves breaking out the sweaters and jeans sooner than expected this weekend as a high pressure system from Canada moves into the area.
Temperatures are only expected to reach the lower 60s today and tomorrow, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Scott Krentz.
The average temperature in Charlotte for this time of year is 82, he said.
Winds may reach speeds of up to 20 miles per hour this weekend as well.
There's a good chance of precipitation on Saturday - about 50 percent - although Krentz said thunderstorms are not likely.
On Sunday, temperatures are expected to climb to the lower 70s.
"It will gradually warm up throughout the week," said Krentz, adding that Charlotte residents can expect temperatures to return to the 80s by Tuesday.
"This is an early influx of fall," said Krentz.
The official start of fall is Sept. 21.
