A trail of playing cards led LeAnn Lancaster through the rooms of her boyfriend Eric Lance’s house. They brought her, first, to a room filled with memories of their first year dating. The second room was filled with memories of their second year of dating. The next two rooms recounted the third and fourth years.

But it was the last stop in the reminiscent journey that took her breath away. At the top of the stairs, Lance awaited her with an array of plans for their future anniversaries – 10th, 20th and 50th. On one knee, with ring in hand, Lance asked LeAnn to help him make those plans come true.

“He’d remembered crazy places that we’d eaten at that I didn’t even remember,” LeAnn says. “He put a lot of time and thought into it, which is very him. It was really personal, just the two of us, which I loved.”

The couple met at Wofford College in their first year but didn’t start dating until their senior year, when LeAnn returned from studying abroad in the Netherlands. During a club meeting the summer before their senior year, the two knew it was the right moment, and it only took a few dates before they were inseparable.

As college came to a close, more school was right around the corner: a law degree for LeAnn and a master’s for Eric. With four CPA exams, a bar exam and starting a law firm, this driven couple’s plate was full. So, when it came time to plan the wedding, LeAnn turned to her sister and photographer, Lindsey Hartsell. As owner of Lindsey Lee Photography and, now, maid of honor, Lindsey took right to the job.

“She helped a ton,” LeAnn says. “She just knows what I like so it was easy to let her take the lead.”

After seven months of planning, the Lances’ wedding day finally came – and so did the rain. LeAnn’s outdoor wedding in Mocksville seemed to be in jeopardy when a loud clap of thunder hit as LeAnn began her walk down the aisle. But the rain held off until right after the couple said “I do” and cleared up just enough for the newlyweds to snap a few outdoor pictures.

LeAnn paired her lace overlaid, trumpet dress with a handmade lace shrug and veil. Her bold lipstick complemented the cranberry bridesmaids’ dresses and her bouquet of red roses and peonies. While red may have been the dominant color of the bridal party, this go-with-the-flow bride says color wasn’t the main focus; she wanted a particular feel to her wedding.

“I would say that it was very classic, traditional,” LeAnn recalls. “We didn’t have that many people so it was pretty intimate. I just really wanted the day to get here because we’d been together a pretty long time and I knew it would all work out.”

For the reception, LeAnn looked to Party Reflections in Charlotte to help transform her venue into her vision.

“We rented tents, chairs, place settings and all the glassware from there,” LeAnn says. “They had a wonderful selection. If you were trying to have an intense color scheme or theme, they have tons of stuff to make that happen.”

After the reception the couple was whisked away in a 1939 Packard, courtesy of Lindsey Lee Photography. Now, with no immediate plans for a family, the couple is taking a breather and simply enjoying being married.
