Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on Tuesday arrested a man who they say accosted a 60-year-old woman outside a Dilworth drugstore and forced her to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash.
Anthony Bernard Little, 46, faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping. He was being held Tuesday night at the Mecklenburg County jail under $150,000 bond.
The crime was reported Saturday night. Police say the suspect approached the victim at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday outside the CVS store at South Boulevard and Park Avenue.
The man indicated he had a weapon, police say, and forced the woman into her vehicle. He then had her drive several miles to a Bank of America ATM on Freedom Drive and forced her to withdraw money from her account.
The victim was then released unharmed, police say. They didn't say what led them to Little, but earlier had released surveillance photos of the suspect and asked the public to call if they recognized him.
Court records show Bernard has had multiple run-ins with the law, stretching back at least to the early 1980s. He has been convicted of larceny after breaking and entering, selling a controlled substance, driving while impaired and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Little was released from prison in 2008 after serving more than a year for common law robbery.
