Baldor Electric Co. plans to add 41 jobs and invest $17.7 million during the next three years as it expands its facility in McDowell County.
The maker of industrial electric motors, mechanical transmission products, drives and generators will be expanding its roller bearing manufacturing operations in its Marion facility, about 95 miles northwest of Charlotte. The Arkansas-based company already has 750 employees in North Carolina at facilities in Marion, Weaverville and Kings Mountain.
The average salary for the new jobs will be a little more than $35,000 with benefits. The McDowell County average annual wage is $29,224.
The project was partially enabled by a $123,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, which seeks to attract business projects through financial assistance from local governments.
"The state of North Carolina and the One North Carolina Fund has been supportive of our strategy of building products efficiently in the U.S. for sale on a global basis," CEO Ron Tucker said in a release. "We can best support this growth with dedicated employees who take excellent care of our customers. We are proud to have employees like this in our North Carolina facilities."
