A global diecutting tool manufacturer plans to open a facility in Mecklenburg County, and add 30 jobs during the next three years, Gov. Bev Perdue announced today.
Marbach America also plans to invest $3 million during that same time period, according to a news release from the governor's office.
The news release said the Mecklenburg facility will serve as the headquarters for Marbach's steel rule die division in the Americas. Marbach is the world's leading diemaking company for the packaging industry.
A die is a tool that cuts or shapes materials using a press.
The Governor's Office said the company received a $50,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, which provides financial assistance to attract business produces to the state. The grants also require local governments to match the state's amount.
"My top priority is creating jobs. We have worked hard to ensure that our state has a business climate where companies can grow and thrive, as we saw last month when Forbes magazine again ranked North Carolina as the third best state in the nation in which to do business," Perdue said in a news release. "Global companies, such as Marbach, look at North Carolina and see the skilled, educated workforce, transportation system and critical infrastructure that they need."
