With the temperature below 40 degrees early Thursday, gleaners with the Society of St. Andrew started their day trimming mustard greens while frost was still on the plants. Then they loaded bag after bag of the greens into their pickup trucks for delivery to organizations like Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Habitat for Humanity of Matthews, Smallwood Presbyterian Church and Christian Ministry Outreach. Kristen Shaben, Charlotte area gleaning coordinator, said the mustard greens picked Thursday will feed about 100 families in a 17-county region around Charlotte. John Simmons
