More Information

A South Carolina man is jailed in Gaston County, charged with driving under the influence and over the speed limit -- far over the speed limit -- early Tuesday on Interstate 85.

The N.C. Highway Patrol charged Jeffery Howard Flynn, 42, of Landrum, S.C., with several traffic and criminal charges in the case. He was pulled over by a state trooper about 1:30 a.m. on southbound I-85 near mile marker 27, not far from Belmont.

Troopers say Flynn was clocked at 108 mph in his 2008 Chrysler. The speed limit in the area is 60 mph. Flynn was charged with speeding, reckless driving, DWI and resisting arrest.

The Gaston Gazette is reporting that troopers say Flynn blew a 0.16 percent -- twice the legal limit -- in a field sobriety test.

He is in the Gaston County Jail, held under $10,000 bond.
