More Information

Now is the time to see Charlotte dressed for the holidays.

The welcome mats are in place all over uptown as merchants celebrate the season.

Whether you're craving fine dining, theater and music or more casual diversions such as bowling and movies, it's here.

Christmas Day's events include ice skating at Holiday on Ice, 5-10 p.m. outside the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and movies at EpiCentre Theaters.

The week ahead will be bustling with exhibitions at area museums - including "Mummies of the World" at Discovery Place science museum, performances at the Blumenthal Center, and carriage rides at Trade and Tryon streets.

Make a stop at the Overstreet Mall during business hours on weekdays to shop, grab a bite and see holiday displays.

The mall has an above-street connection to the EpiCentre and bowling at Strike City.

Parking is free at the N.C. Music Factory, at the northern edge of uptown, where there's more food, nightlife and live entertainment venues.

Hop aboard a Charlotte Area Transit System bus for a ride from the Music Factory to the center of uptown.

Don't miss this chance to see the center city while the pace is slower and more relaxed.

It comes but once a year.

Happy holidays!
