Free crafts at Michael's: Michael's offers free crafts throughout the year for kids and adults. This week, crafts are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday, all 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. michaels.com

First Footin' at Rural Hill: Celebrate New Year's Day in the Scottish tradition at Historic Rural Hill. Take a 5K hike around the historic grounds, learning about the history as you walk, and then enjoy a dramatic reading of Stone Soup and a potluck lunch. Make sure to bring something to share.
