Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas chuckled when told ex-Bobcat Stephen Jackson claimed this was just another game on the schedule.
"Stephen Jackson is going to try to kill us tonight," Silas said pre-game. "He wants everyone to know we made the biggest mistake in the world" by trading him. Silas said he was just that way as a player after the Atlanta Hawks traded him to Phoenix. The first time he played against the Hawks, he scored 30-some points and set a Suns record with 17 consecutive free throws made.
The Bobcats pursued former Duke star Mike Dunleavy in free agency, but Dunleavy signed with the Bucks. Dunleavy said the Bucks were a better fit. Probably that means a better chance to reach the playoffs.
Yankees great Derek Jeter and Panthers quarterback Cam Newton were both in attendance.
