Lots of Lake Norman venues are planning parties this New Year’s Eve to help you say goodbye to 2011 and greet 2012 in style. If you’re looking for ideas, check out this month’s edition of Lake Norman Magazine, which highlights some local festivities.

But maybe you’d rather ring in the New Year with a lovely meal – the chance to dress up and not worry about someone spilling a drink while waiting in the large line at the bar. A relaxing evening filled with wonderful food, wine and conversation.

Not to worry, your options are wide open. Check out these local restaurants offering New Year’s Eve menu specials.

FlatIron Kitchen & Taphouse in Davidson presents a wonderful four-course meal that includes salad, starter, entrée and dessert. Light hors d’oeuvres, party favors and a champagne toast will be provided. The cost is $45 per person and reservations are required. Email Chris@FlatironOnMain.com or Jerri@FlatironOnMain.com to reserve a spot.

Visit Alton’s Kitchen and Cocktails in Cornelius for their four-course holiday meal for $35 per person. Main course entrée options include the fresh catch of the day, filet mignon, lamb shank, prime rib or the chef’s feature. Leave room for dessert options that let you choose apple cobbler, white chocolate bread pudding, or the cheesecake of the day. 704-655-2727.

131 Main, also located in Cornelius, is planning a special Happy New Year’s Eve menu that features select starters, entrees and desserts from their menu. Reservations for small parties are still being taken at this popular Lake Norman eatery, which will be open until 10:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. 704-896-0131.

Other options to consider for a festive New Year’s Eve dining experience include:

The Prickly Pear: What was once a small, Catholic Church now provides the intimate atmosphere for this popular Mooresville restaurant serving modern Mexican cuisine. 704-799-0875.

Dressler’s Restaurant: Located in Birkdale Village, Dressler’s restaurant has been the go-to destination for elegant gatherings in the Lake Norman area. 704-987-1779.

Mickey and Mooch: Upon moving to the area six years ago, the Huntersville restaurant was mentioned more than once as a place to dine when you’re celebrating. Need I say more? 704-895-6654.

Whether your plans take you to an exquisite dining experience, a raucous club, or a friend’s house for a party, have fun and be safe. Here’s to a Happy 2012!
